While those of us in Brunswick are mourning the recent closure of The Radical Grocery Store, Preston's vegan stocks have risen with the December opening of Mad Cowgirls Vegan Grocery.
At the moment they're offering a broad yet selective range of goods - fresh produce; tofu, tempeh and mock meats; non-dairy cheeses, milks and ice creams; pre-made meals and pantry staples; cleaning products and toiletries.
We appreciated the baskets at the entry and took small samples across their grocery range. Once the Mad Cowgirls' EFTPOS machine is up and running (due later this month) it'll be even easier to spend up big.
It's exciting to see the vegan grocery baton picked up so swiftly on the northside. We've got The Cruelty Free Shop to look forward to in Fitzroy this year too.

Accessibility: The entry is standard-width and flat. Interior shelves extend up to my shoulder height and are surrounded by a lot of space. We paid at a low counter.
Fantastic news...and very close to me!
ReplyDeleteLucky you, Lentil Institution! I just read that they're closed until Friday, so don't rush there too quickly. ;-)
DeleteMust check this one out - (after Friday) - sounds intereesting
ReplyDeleteHi Johanna - I imagine the products will remind you of the Radical Grocery. It'll be handy to have this in its absence.
