A week after we ate our way through Sydney, the sun saw fit to shine on Melbourne as we did some odd jobs in the northern suburbs. This was all the excuse we needed to return to Mankoushe for lunch. On Saturday we picked up two zatar breads (just $1.50 each!) and were thoroughly satisfied with their chew and oily-salty spices.
On Sunday we helped some friends move house and were recompensed with a late lunchtime feast of Tiba's falafel and Mankoushe bread in their new, tentatively sunny backyard. The freshly baked breads stuffed with haloumi cheese ($3.30) were tremendous - it seems the only way to make a Mankoushe lunch taste any better is to earn it.
