Mister Nice Guy's Bakeshop III

August 29, 2013

I now get my hair cut within walking distance of Mister Nice Guy's Bakeshop, which is a pretty good guarantee that I'll be stopping by at least once every couple of months. After an icing OD last time, I scaled down (ha!) and sampled three mini cupcakes ($2.50 each) last Thursday. The red velvet didn't make a strong impression, but I loved the sherbetty kick of the key west's lime icing, and the peanut butter cup was perfectly portioned and proportioned, with a deep cocoa cake and buttery sweet icing.

Every time I visit this shop, I overhear at least one (and often two or three) new customer(s) ask ...and what's vegan?. There's always a little guffaw or squeal when they're reassured that everything - yes, really, everything! - is vegan. No wonder the staff are so smiley.

You can read about my previous visits to the Bakeshop here and here. Since then it's received more blog love from veganopoulous and The Good Hearted.

Accessibility: From memory, Mr Nice Guy has a flat entry. There's a wide corridor inside and the display cases are clearly visible and well labelled. Ordering and payment happens at the counter. The toilets are down a slightly narrow and uneven corridor, are gendered, and pretty narrow themselves.

  1. I'm a big fan of Mr Nice Guy now! I finally made it there a few weeks ago and loved the bagels and cinnamon scrolls. I'm not really into cupcakes so I'm very pleased they have expanded the menu. The staff were super friendly on my visit too!

    1. Hi Mel! Yes, I find myself looking to their non-cupcake items on many of my visits too. Their range is so impressive these days.

  2. They make these little chocolate coconut donuts that are so so good. But I've only seen them there once out of the 2 times I've been. It's my favourite thing from Mr Nice Guy. And btw; I only found this place thanks to your blog =)

  5. It's so exciting...almost overwhelming when you have a choice of EVERYTHING on the menu!

I've only had Mister Nice Guy's cupcakes once at the Las Vegan bakery...I'm not sure they had a store front then. I can't wait to get back there and visit them though.

    1. Hi there Caeli! They have shifted around with different stockists and shopfronts over the years, hopefully this wonderful bakeshop will stick around for a while.

  6. I have been dying to find a hairstylist near one of my favorite shoppes for just that reason; good on you. I've settled for my dad's dentist being down the block from a stellar sandwich & shake shop; he delivers from an hour away (my dad, not the shop)!

    1. Ha, that sounds good Abby Bean! My dentist is just down the street from a chocolate shop, I always walk past and wonder how insulted my dentist would be if I walked in there straight after. ;-)
