This Tokyo treat didn't come directly from Michael's brother Matt. He actually gave it to their mum but, fearing it contained something spicy and wasabi-flavoured, she passed it on to Michael and I. Actually, these are just sugared peanuts! Tasty, and not gritty from the sugar, they're best shared around lest you make yourself sick. Just sayin'.
Oh yes, I have experienced the TOO-MANY-SUGARED-PEANUTS sickness before.
ReplyDeleteAnd, because they're peanuts, it tends to last the whole night. Then, if you're as stupid as me, in the morning, when you're all regretful, you absentmindedly head for another handful.
I could easily have met the same morning-after fate, Bunches, had I not polished off the whole bag the night before. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI love mystery asian snacks :) I've had a few shockers, but more than a few great experiences.
ReplyDeleteLikewise, Maffy! Just about everything we've received from Michael's brother has been great, but I once bought a packet of spiced crunchy snacks from an Indian grocery that burnt my mouth out. :-D
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a chocolate-peanuts fiend (with the side-effects), but I sympathise. And I *love* mystery food fun, as long as it's other people who get the nasty surprises. Oh dear...
ReplyDeleteHa! I wonder what culinary mischief you get up to, Duncan. I have a friend who made fairy bread with vegemite and told his victims it was nutella. :-P
