We've been spending more of our breakfast time at the northern end of Lygon St since then, but I won't strike Ray from my list just yet.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-49141910894585743112008-02-23T19:42:00.000+11:002008-02-23T19:42:00.000+11:00Ray does have good food and coffee, but twice in a...Ray does have good food and coffee, but twice in a few months my order has just been forgotten. It's sort of cute for the wait-staff not to write things down, but just not good enough. With so many good options floating around, Ray has to get a bit less "whatever" to fulfil its promise. Meanwhile I'll be elsewhere.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-17323211460084849452008-01-17T09:58:00.000+11:002008-01-17T09:58:00.000+11:00Kathryn, I hope you enjoy Ray as much as we do. If you have the time, take a stroll along Sydney Rd while you're in the area. :-)Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-40777309969697242842008-01-16T17:09:00.000+11:002008-01-16T17:09:00.000+11:00I've been trying to find the address for Rays on g...I've been trying to find the address for Rays on google - so happy to find it on your site, should have checked there first. A Sydney friend has recommended them to me for their home-made baked beans - so have added that to my list of things to do for my Melbourne trip!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-89385634124322386812007-04-02T14:52:00.000+10:002007-04-02T14:52:00.000+10:00The granitas sound fantastic - I wish I'd been aro...The granitas sound fantastic - I wish I'd been around to see (and taste) them!

Rejections and delays leave me pretty miffed too. I was a bit miffed a while back when I was rebuffed by the folks at Ray. It's hard to take rejection and even harder when your tummy is grumbling!

Also a tad disappointed, because when it first opened Ray had these really great granita's rosewater and pistachio, pomegranate and lychee to name a few) but they're long gone.M?https://www.blogger.com/profile/05903611579763242357noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-43617972578915462472007-03-06T11:54:00.000+11:002007-03-06T11:54:00.000+11:00You're right - there's little elitism in Ray's tre...You're right - there's little elitism in Ray's trendy vibe. If this becomes the frequent haunt that I intend it to be, I'll take a peek around the corner at "your" booth. :-)Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-91928774096290155032007-03-06T11:12:00.000+11:002007-03-06T11:12:00.000+11:00That's a favourite. In winter we sit outside in the sun that slants in against the little tables.

Ray might be hip but it's old-fashioned friendly and warm. I've noticed this trend over the past year or so; back to really friendly local places that treat you well and serve nice coffee and good food.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
