Thanks for your thoughts, ladies. :-) Though there were ~9 vegetarian-friendly dishes on the menu, it was kinda icky have to read about ~30 dishes containing oysters, lambs brains, rabbit, goat, pigs' trotter and on and on, before getting to the vegetables way at the end. Ultimately we were quite well catered for, but it certainly sends the message that us veg*ns don't really belong at a Spanish restaurant!

Hayley, I loved those shiitake balls too!

Johanna, churros and chocolate would probably be my highlight too! Maybe we're better off skipping the main course and heading directly to San Churro. :-)

Miss T, I love the idea of a vegan tapas potluck! Lots of bite-size vegetable treats and... dang, I'd love to try my hand at seitan chorizo. :-DCindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-35534861475900369742008-10-27T15:43:00.000+11:002008-10-27T15:43:00.000+11:00I'm with you on the veg*n/tapas problem ... even w...I'm with you on the veg*n/tapas problem ... even when I was vegetarian I found it difficult to eat at Movida with all the sharing (read: resentful. Resentful at the small number of options; resentful at the priciness; and resentful that I was expected to pay equal parts of the bill when everyone had insisted on ordering meatiness), and when I was in Spain I would have starved without patatas bravas ... I dread to think what the vegan options would be now!

Maybe we should have a vegan tapas potluck just to assuage our feelings of being left on the outer ...

Miss TMiss Thttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03604850110464039541noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-76576760449514086472008-10-26T14:05:00.000+11:002008-10-26T14:05:00.000+11:00I feel the same way about tapas and vegetarians - ...I feel the same way about tapas and vegetarians - it always seems like I have to nibble around the edges because most dishes are so full of meat - my favourite dish on these menus is usually chocolate and churros which is probably why I have only been to movida for that dish (despire the best of intentions)Johanna GGGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08594201473931487490noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-41280601039887402342008-10-26T12:13:00.000+11:002008-10-26T12:13:00.000+11:00*Sigh*, I miss Ume Nomiya too. I often think about their rice and shiitake balls with that amazing chilli sauce with wistful fondness.

I'd definately agree that vegos and tapas is an uncomfortable pairing - even when there are veggie options at tapas places, I tend to be frowning at the menu descriptions and thinking "I don't want to eat THAT" (then again, I could just be fussy!).Hayleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02136383350050942704noreply@blogger.com
