Have you been taking the painstaking wash-out-the-starch approach that I have here, or using high-gluten flour to make a dough? I think the high-gluten dough is more reliable, and you're better positioned to add some herbs and other flavourings you might like. Otherwise it's certainly possible that seitan just isn't your thing.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-39344463203064792252010-02-26T05:52:38.818+11:002010-02-26T05:52:38.818+11:00I've tried making seitan twice now, once boile...I've tried making seitan twice now, once boiled, once baked, both times utterly vile - it's ended up in the bin! I'd love to see what you do with it!

Johanna, it was a fascinating process. I probably won't repeat it very often but it's given me a new appreciation for gluten flour.

Hi Vee! Although it's flour based, seitan is not really bread-like. It's used as a faux meat in vegetarian cooking. :-)Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07147906610629741961noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33131521.post-23483000450259453512010-01-08T20:01:53.393+11:002010-01-08T20:01:53.393+11:00That looks very tiring!
